The Laws of the Game apply everywhere, even Australia and it doesn't matter what age group. If the attacker is in his defensive half of the field when the ball is played by his teammate, he CANNOT be offside. However, if his foot is touching the half-way line or his head, knee or other part of the body that can legally play the ball is hanging over the half-way line, he is considered to be in the attacking end of the field. Since he can't play the ball with his hand or arm - they don't count.

If it "bounces off" the GK, then yes. If the GK parries the ball, then he has controlled it. In the case of a parry, offside is reset. If the GK simply blocks a shot and does not control it (just deflects it) then offside is not reset. The AR has about 1 - 2 seconds to decide. A GK parry is when the GK chooses to punch the ball (usually with both hands) instead of trying to catch it. When this happens, the control by the GK is obvious.

That is correct. Offside position is determined after the last touch of your teammate OR if the ball is played by an opponent. FIFA has defined played by an opponent as controlling and playing the ball. Examples of controlling and playing are: - intercepting a pass and directing it with the foot or other legal body part. - The GK parrying the ball - Intercepting and dribbling the ball. - etc.. Specifically excluded is the incidental deflection. Still a judgement call by the AR.

Is it the same idea if it bounces off the goalie?

Just to make sure. If it banks off (no control) a defender and you are in an offside poistion, it should be called offside?
